Revival: Lost Southern Voices

Revival: Lost South­ern Voic­es, a fes­ti­val for read­ers, is a col­lab­o­ra­tion between the Geor­gia Cen­ter for the Book and Geor­gia State — Perime­ter Col­lege. The annu­al con­fer­ence cel­e­brates his­tor­i­cal­ly exclud­ed, erased, or mar­gin­al­ized South­ern voices.

Fine Arts Exhibition

The Fine Arts Exhi­bi­tion was part of the 2024 Decatur Arts Fes­ti­val. The 35th annu­al Fine Arts Exhi­bi­tion explored Forced Per­spec­tive” as the theme. When expe­ri­ences chal­lenge our world­view, when encoun­ters lead to a reex­am­i­na­tion of long-held beliefs, when we real­ize jar­ring truths or wit­ness inescapable real­i­ties … artists and audi­ences are invit­ed to con­sid­er how endur­ing dis­com­fort affects how we relate to our­selves, each oth­er, and the world.

Geor­gia Poet­ry in the Parks

Geor­gia Poet­ry in the Parks is a col­lab­o­ra­tion between the Geor­gia Cen­ter for the Book, the DeKalb Library Foun­da­tion, and Geor­gia Poet Lau­re­ate Chelsea Rath­burn. This pro­gram is made pos­si­ble by the Acad­e­my of Amer­i­can Poets with funds from the Andrew W. Mel­lon Foundation.

This series is a part­ner­ship with local doc­u­men­tary film­mak­er Hal Jacobs. The Decatur Short Docs Fes­ti­val show­cas­es short doc­u­men­taries about peo­ple and places in our com­mu­ni­ty and the South. We look for films with the heart, art, and soul of this diverse region.

The Big Read

The Big Read

The Big Read is a pro­gram run by the Nation­al Endow­ment for the Arts (NEA), designed to revi­tal­ize the role of read­ing in Amer­i­can cul­ture by expos­ing cit­i­zens to great works of lit­er­a­ture and encour­ag­ing them to read for plea­sure and enrich­ment. The Geor­gia Cen­ter for the Book part­ners with 7 Stages to cre­ate pro­gram­ming for this annu­al selection.
